The aim of the challenge, following World Diabetes Day, was to raise awareness and visibility of the disease.
On the 14th November World Diabetes Day was celebrated and from Foundation LLYC, at the request of two of our volunteers, Elisa Carrión and Eugenia Más del Rey along with the support from the Sports Area from LLYC Madrid, we wanted to raise awareness and generate visibility on this disease, especially among times where the pandemic has limited physical activity, something so important for this group. It is something that affects everyone, and we must not forget that moving is essential for staying healthy.
Therefore, during the week we organized different activities to raise awareness and generate visibility on Diabetes.
On an external level, from Foundation LLYC´s social networks we shared tips on diabetes and communication, and for the occasion we created hashtags in spanish #LLYCsemueveporladiabetes and in portuguese #LLYCmexesepeladiabetes. We encouraged all of our LLYCERS to share and interact with this on social networks to generate visibility.
Internally, we organised a corporate olympics amongst our operations in a simple way in order to challenge our LLYCERS to register their physical activity, counting how many steps they do per day. The team that accumulated the most steps received an acknowledgement as the most aware team.
#LLYCsemueveporladiabetes was very popular, we recorded a total of more than 7,526.883 steps during the week and of course achieved our objective: generating visibility and raising awareness about this disease. Furthermore, this positive challenge was a great way to keep us active and in contact with other colleagues.
