The Board of Trustees of Fundación José Antonio Llorente is renewed. María Cura takes over the presidency from José Antonio Llorente, at the head of the main governing body since its creation in 2016. In addition, Thyago Mathias, Teresa Rey and Luis Martín join as new members. They relieve Luisa García and Alejandro Romero, who end their time as trustees. These changes are intended to make room for other executives and professionals of the firm to continue promoting the institution’s social commitment.

“We are very pleased with the trajectory of the Foundation, both for the involvement and commitment that the firm’s professionals have always shown and for the type of initiatives that we have launched. I am handing over the presidency of the Board of Trustees to María Cura. I am convinced that she will do a wonderful job, as will Thyago, Teresa and Luis, who will make a valuable contribution as members with their experience and disposition”, says José Antonio Llorente, Founding Partner and President of LLYC.

María Cura remains as Partner and General Manager of LLYC Barcelona. As President of the Board of Trustees, she will be in charge of guiding and approving the action plans of Fundación LLYC together with the members: María Esteve (Andean Region), Carlos Llanos (Ecuador), Francisco Aylwin (Chile) and the recent appointments Thyago Mathias (Brazil), Teresa Rey (Panama) and Luis Martín (Spain). Albert Medrán remains as Director General of the Foundation.

María Cura: “I am grateful for the trust that the Foundation’s Board of Trustees has placed in me. Thanks also to the supervolunteers and the team that makes the day-to-day running of the Foundation possible and, in particular, to its Director General, Albert Medrán. Presiding over the Foundation is in a way to contribute to making LLYC’s purpose and values a reality through the talent and skills of a team that feels a strong commitment to sustainability, democracy and social progress.”

Thyago Mathias is Managing Director in Brazil. He has more than 15 years of experience in projects developed in Brazil and Latin America. He spent a first period at LLYC between 2013 and 2018 and in July 2021 he returned to the firm to lead the Brazil operation.

For her part, Teresa Rey is Director of Consumer Engagement in Panama, she has recently started her international experience, after four years in the Madrid office. With more than ten years of experience in consulting, she has managed national and international clients and developed branding projects.

Luis Martín is Director of Digital in the Madrid office since 2019, previously he had been manager of the area for three years, time in which he led the accounts of Repsol, Enagas, Unicaja Banco or Calidad Pascual.

In recent years the LLYC Foundation has achieved very positive results in terms of social impact, number of volunteers and projects. Last year alone it supported 39 different social entities through 14 programs and four initiatives that benefited 286 people, mainly women and young people with few resources. Among its main projects is Voces Futuras, which helps minors at risk of social exclusion to reinforce their soft skills techniques linked to communication and public speaking, with the aim of offering them useful tools to face their personal and professional future with more confidence. It has also developed activities in collaboration with the Instituto de Empresa, such as #StoryTelling For Social Impact and Fundación SM, through its Aula Go project.
