Focus ON: A Solidarity Vision

Objective

Encouraging privileged societies to put on “imaginary glasses” that allow them to see the reality of other cultures and observe and understand the world.

Solution

The Focus ON project started with Aina Tugas’ trip to Nepal as part of Fundación Multiópticas’ “Mirada Solidaria” project, which helped distribute reading glasses and sunglasses to Nepalese communities. In return, the LLYC Foundation wanted to create “glasses” to help our employees, friends, partners, and followers see the reality of Nepali society and culture through new eyes.

Aina’s role was to find and share inspiring stories full of vital lessons we should never forget. Using camera techniques like focusing and blurring, she emphasized the difference between what seemed to be and what really was.

In addition, after reading Aina’s micro-stories, the LLYC Foundation wanted to take it a step further by collecting more stories from other countries shared by different people. The goal was to bring cultures closer, challenge prejudices, and rescue those essential values we sometimes overlook in our fast-paced lives. To facilitate this, our volunteer Elena Rodríguez designed a “Travel Journal” template available in PPT and PDF formats for anyone who wanted to write their stories.

Impact

Thanks to the volunteers of Fundación Multiópticas, 3,300 people received eye exams and glasses.

I’ve never liked the term ‘coexist.’ It’s a quirk of mine. I feel like in this ‘adapting to each other,’ there’s little harmony and little flow. These values don’t fit within a society as inviting as Nepal’s, where ‘adapt’ isn’t the word. Rather, it’s more like sharing life and flowing along this path.
