#LLYCsemueveporladiabetes

Objective

Raising awareness about diabetes.

Solution

On November 14, World Diabetes Day, the Foundation, led by volunteers Elisa Carrión and Eugenia Más del Rey, and with support from the LLYC Madrid Sports Department, set out to raise awareness about diabetes. This effort was especially vital at a time when the pandemic has reduced physical activity—a key factor for managing the disease. And it’s not just for those directly affected: staying active is essential for everyone’s health.

To gain momentum, we launched multiple initiatives during the week before World Diabetes Day:

Externally, we shared tips on diabetes and communication through Fundación LLYC’s social media channels. To increase visibility, we introduced the hashtags #LLYCsemueveporladiabetes (in Spanish) and #LLYCmexesepeladiabetes (in Portuguese), encouraging LLYCers to share and engage on social media.

Internally, we held a simple and fun corporate Olympics across our offices. LLYCers tracked their daily steps, and the team with the highest average step count was recognized as the most committed to raising awareness.

Impact

The #LLYCMovesForDiabetes campaign was a resounding success! Over the course of a week, volunteers logged more than 7,526,883 steps, achieving the primary goal: raising awareness about diabetes and bringing visibility to this often-overlooked disease. This uplifting challenge also encouraged participants to stay active and connect with colleagues, fostering a sense of unity and well-being.

This has been such a positive initiative. We’ve been able to shine a light on an often invisible disease that greatly impacts society. As always, it was wonderful to come together and feel so connected. Workplace awareness is crucial, and seeing the support from colleagues has been truly moving.
